ESSENTIALS BEFORE TRAVELLING

Greetings from Oslo Airport!

After the excessive amount of travelling the last few years, I've noticed some dos and don'ts when preparing for a trip. These are probably things that some people already do, but not something that anyone actually think about. So I conducted a small list below. These are the five essential things I do when preparing for a trip.

1. Prep your techs

I always carry my two cameras with me when going on vacation; the Canon Powershot G7X Mark II and the Canon 750D. So I always keep my SD cards memory free at the beginning of the trip to have all the place in the world to fill it up.

So I always check to transfer all old files over to my hard drive the night before. Then plug them into the cameras and format the card. For my iPhone, I try to free up as much space as possible, meaning transferring files and backing up my phone.

2. Fix your sleep pattern

When on vacation, I like to wake up early and sleep late, so I try to prepare my body to sleep during reasonable hours so that I’m not stuck on a «sleep at 3AM» evil loop when I’m away. You need to be well-rested in irder to explore the city your visiting!

3. Check your financials

Nothing is worse than having your cards declined while on vacation. Always check that every bill is paid for and in order a week before your trip!

4. Skip the (heavy) workout

I’m all for working out to stay in shape when travelling, but if you’re going to suffer through sore muscles and basically be unable to move properly, then it’s just not worth it.

5. Plan the actual trip

I’m already working on a post for specificslly planning a successful trip, but just to lightly touch upon the matter: plan where to stay, where to eat, and how to get around. When I’m travelling to coties like London and Paris, where public transportation is easily available, it’s important to know what tickets are available and beneficial for your trip. For example, London has Visitor Oyster cards, that carry more benefits than the regular Oyster cards.

That’s all for now! If you can think of any more topics that are essential to this list, let me know in the comments! I’m about to board a plane to fly off to Amsterdam now. Can’t wait!

Until next time!
